Life Drawings 2008
Dalkey Arts, Dalkey, Co. Dublin.

The process of drawing from the life model is a very unique experience, because it is of
the moment. The model poses for you for a specified amount of time from usually quick
one-minute poses to begin with building up to longer 30-40 minutes poses. The
drawings are the result of a quick and direct response to the human form.
Life drawings created from these sessions are usually, by definition, spontaneous,
explorative and sketchy, with a uniqueness all of their own. They have often, but not in
all cases, been a traditional part of many artists’ lives.
I have always enjoyed and feel that I have benefited from life drawing, and will take up
the opportunity to draw from the model whenever I can.
Over the last year or so, I have been attending weekly life drawing sessions and
decided to put together a collection of these drawings. These will be shown in the
various galleries that represent my work, and have an accompanying catalogue titled
Life Drawing 2008.
